Nowadays getting sick has become a day-to-day routine, people fall ill more number of times they really think of falling ill. Eating unhealthy food, consuming Tobacco and Alcohol, incomplete sleep and many other bad habits have made our lives hell. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1.5 billion adults and 22 million children are overweight. Unhealthy diet is one of the major causes of obesity in today’s world. People are more likely to live on medicine rather than nutritious food.
However, we can solve such kind of problems and live a healthy & disease free life. Here are five rules which never let you fall ill if followed sincerely (These tips are suggested by “Rishi Vagbhata” who was one of the greatest writers of Ayurveda)-
1. Do not drink water immediately after eating food
Now this is the most difficult thing to do because everybody has a habit of doing that but there is a scientific reason behind it. The food which we eat get collected in our stomach where heat is produces and some acids are release for breakdown of the food. However, if we drink cold water immediately after eating food then that heat gets cold and that food stored in the stomach becomes rot, which is much equalling to poison. This will cause gas, pain, acidity and many other stomach related problems in future, as the food will not digest properly.
Now the question arises that when should we drink water after eating food. The answer is after 1 hour because by that time most of the digestion in stomach is completed. Alternatively, we can drink water 30 to 40 minutes before eating food. Still if you want to drink something after having food then you can drink curd, milk, fresh fruit juice or lemonade. It is good to have fresh fruit juice after breakfast, curd after lunch and milk after dinner.
2. Drink water sip-by-sip
We generally have the habit of drinking full glass of water at a time, which is not good. When we drink water sip-by-sip some amount of saliva is mix with water and saliva has some numerous substances, which get mix with acids produced by stomach when water reaches there. This mixing of different liquids is important for our digestion. Acidity in stomach can lead to acidity in blood, which will cause many health problems.
We all must have observed animals and birds drinking water many times. Take a pause and think how they drink water…! Well you must have got the answer by now that they drink water sip after sip. And have you ever see an animal or bird obese and suffering from Blood Pressure or Diabetes? The answer is “NO”.
3. Avoid Ice Cold water
Avoid drinking ice cold as much as you can, as our normal body temperature is about 98.6°F (37°C) and if the water we drink is suppose 35.6°F (2°C) than the blood starts turning thick, our blood vessels shrink and our digestion becomes restricted. Now instead of digesting the food, our body starts controlling the decreased temperature. Hence our digestion will complete in much longer time.
Drinking cold water just after a meal will solidify fats and create mucus in our body, which will lead to my health problems and weakening of Immune System.
4. Drink 2-3 glasses of water when you wake up in the morning
Drinking sufficient water early morning will clean your stomach & large intestine and will put pressure, resulting which you will run to use the washroom. Your stomach will get clean in just 2-3 minutes and clean stomach every day results in preventing much kind of diseases.
The acid content in the stomach is also high in the morning and if we drink enough water, then saliva mixed with water will dilute the amount of acid. Water also cleans toxins from our blood, which is the biggest reason for glowing skin.
5. Drink a glass of water before bed time
Drinking a glass of water before bedtime will balance hormones & muscles and will restore the fluid loss throughout the day. When you sleep, the water travels from every part of your body and you will wake up fresh in the morning.
Many people have a habit of drinking tea or coffee before bed, which is not good as it contains caffeine and will keep you awake for many hours.
You might be thinking that all these five rules are water related. This is because water is very essential element of our body and following these rules based on drinking water will prevent you from 80+ diseases and problems like obesity, high blood pressure, diabetics, acidity, heart disease etc.
